As an avid podcast listener, I’m a great believer in the potency of the media. En route to work, the supermarket or whilst I’m cooking I’m learning something. I’d love to get my own podcast started and practice my storytelling skills in audio form. Doing this alone would be less fun, so I’m looking for a partner who’s excited to unpack one of the following topics with me:
- Crossroads
Where unexpected worlds meet. Historically it might be the Protestant English Queen corresponding and trading with the Islamic Shah of Iran and the Ottoman Sultan. Or maybe it’s today’s tourists meeting refugees on a Greek beach, or a push coke snorter in the same prison cell as a working-class petty criminal. It’s all about the unexpected. - The timeline project
Another one to put things into perspective, but here in terms of time. It can make you rethink our history if things are compared to what’s happening at the same time. - Why Hegel was wrong about Africa‘
- My lino project in podcast format – tell histories from the African continent. See my previous blog post ‘Why Hegel was wrong about Africa‘
- Social design
What is social design, what’s out there and where will it be going next? - Gaming world noobs
I’m not a gamer myself, but I know it’s a booming business and that many of us don’t know anything about it. I want to bridge that world and explain to the ‘noobs’, which includes myself, what’s happening in that world. - Amsterdam’s makers
This one gets more local by interviewing craftsmen in the city - The lost knowledge of the PhDs
People are doing PhDs than before, some of which will not be able to find employment in their field after completion. So why do people do PhDs? What do they study and where does their knowledge go? Let’s get hold of some of them and capture their insights. - Dutch folk and fairytales
Tell some of our ‘local’ Dutch tales told and contextualise them. Together with the Meertens Institute?
